I had a wonderful time meeting new art friends and learning from Romel de la Torre at his workshop the last 5 days.   These are the studies I painted at the event.    Thanks to Tina Garrett for bringing this to the K.C. area.   I was inspired by watching Romel's process and his help doing portraits and painting the figure.   Now is the challenge to put it all to use......

This is a tribute to a wonderful art friend who died a few years ago, Dennis Yates.    He was and still is an inspiration to me.    I uploaded this painting of mine before, but this is a better photo of the painting.   Dennis let me use his original photo to work from.   I've had many offers to purchase this, but I promised him I wouldn't sell it, so it graces my brother's dining room in Alabama.   This is      "Apple Basket", 16"x 20", Oil on canvas. I'll be participating in an up-coming show starting this week. Springfield Regional Arts Council(SRAC), will be having it's 2010 annual Members Show. The opening reception will be held for the public during First Friday Art Walk, June 4th, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Member's artwork will be the featured artwork during the annual membership meeting and Ozzie Awards held at The Creamery Arts Center on Thursday, June 16th. The exhibition will run through June 28th. I entered two of my newest paintings. A pastel, "China Rose", and an oil, "Marina Morning". Stop by and see the show if you get a chance.
