My block-in of the chuck wagon.
"Chuck Wagon", 8"x 10", oil study, painted on site.

Thursday morning it was raining and dreary when we, (Springfield Plein Air artists),  arrived at Dogwood Canyon Nature Park, Lampe, Missouri, so most of us camped out under the cover at the "Chuck Wagon", area.    I chose the tough subject........the chuck wagon.........to paint.     The wagon looks to be an authentic "chuckwagon", used by  cowboys on trail rides.    Now it adds true character for barbeques,  receptions and get-togethers.    As the day went on the rain finally quit and it ended up a nice day.    Jeanie & Johnny Morris, founders of the Nature Park, gave us free access to the park, and provided transportation for us and ALL our gear.   What a treat!   Thanks so much.    If ever in the beautiful Ozarks, and you enjoy walking, biking, fishing, segwaying, or would just like a tram tour to see the beautiful canyon, elk and buffalo, be sure to check out the Park.
