We had my sweet bro-in-law's funeral yesterday...12/13/14........Not something any family wants to do right here 
before Christmas.   Or anytime for that matter.......... He was killed in a tragic one pickup wreck just a stone's throw from his and my sisters, Judy's,  home.    His two little doggies also went to heaven with him.......It was a wonderful ceremony with standing room only of all his family and hundreds of people who's lives he had touched in his 73 years in Cedar County......  As Judy said he was "one of a kind", and he will be missed by all of us that knew and loved him.

This is a tribute to a wonderful art friend who died a few years ago, Dennis Yates.    He was and still is an inspiration to me.    I uploaded this painting of mine before, but this is a better photo of the painting.   Dennis let me use his original photo to work from.   I've had many offers to purchase this, but I promised him I wouldn't sell it, so it graces my brother's dining room in Alabama.   This is      "Apple Basket", 16"x 20", Oil on canvas. I'll be participating in an up-coming show starting this week. Springfield Regional Arts Council(SRAC), will be having it's 2010 annual Members Show. The opening reception will be held for the public during First Friday Art Walk, June 4th, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Member's artwork will be the featured artwork during the annual membership meeting and Ozzie Awards held at The Creamery Arts Center on Thursday, June 16th. The exhibition will run through June 28th. I entered two of my newest paintings. A pastel, "China Rose", and an oil, "Marina Morning". Stop by and see the show if you get a chance.
