Walt Disney's childhood hometown........Marceline, Missouri.    Cheryl Coen and I had a good weekend there, learning about Walt's family and meeting some very good plein air artists.    The Oil Painter's Society,  Missouri Valley Impressionist Society,  North Missouri Arts Council and Darrell Gardner sponsored the Paint Out, Show & Reception, along with The City of Marceline and their Wine & Art Stroll.   
It turned out to be a nice day to paint and hundreds of people turned out for the Stroll.    We had some great art winners and quite a few of the paintings were sold.     Cheryl and I were impressed on that point.   Especially Cheryl since she sold one of her paintings.   Way to to Cheryl!    Here were my two paintings I completed for the show that evening:

This is a tribute to a wonderful art friend who died a few years ago, Dennis Yates.    He was and still is an inspiration to me.    I uploaded this painting of mine before, but this is a better photo of the painting.   Dennis let me use his original photo to work from.   I've had many offers to purchase this, but I promised him I wouldn't sell it, so it graces my brother's dining room in Alabama.   This is      "Apple Basket", 16"x 20", Oil on canvas. I'll be participating in an up-coming show starting this week. Springfield Regional Arts Council(SRAC), will be having it's 2010 annual Members Show. The opening reception will be held for the public during First Friday Art Walk, June 4th, from 6 to 9 p.m. The Member's artwork will be the featured artwork during the annual membership meeting and Ozzie Awards held at The Creamery Arts Center on Thursday, June 16th. The exhibition will run through June 28th. I entered two of my newest paintings. A pastel, "China Rose", and an oil, "Marina Morning". Stop by and see the show if you get a chance.
