November flew by this year. We ha ve many blessings to be thankful for. The rush starts as the holiday season begins. I'm really enjoying this beautiful 70 degree weather we're having as we get rid of the fall leaves and get prepared for the Winter season. Most art festi v al's are over and the grand-kids now shift into t heir inside school sports . It's always enj oyable to watch them participate . Big Cedar Lodge Paint Out 2012 I just returned home today from a short getaway at the Big Cedar Paint Out, near Branson. I'm always exhausted, but it's a good tired, after getting out to paint and to visit with art friends. After a couple cold, rainy mornings, I waited until later in the day to get out, so only got two paintings almost finished. I decided this year I wasn't going to kill myself rushing around trying to do more paintings. Instead I took more time to visit with the other artists, and to enjoy the resort. My daughter, Shawna and grandson Levi, came down and joined me for one night. We had a quick dinner in Branson, and that night Levi tried out the resort's double level, outside heated pool. "Flowing Colors" Plein air Oil painting, Rocky Mountain National Park. 8"x10". I hiked a little ways down Cub Lake trail-head to paint this. Just as I was setting up, a huge bull elk came waltzing by. I could hardly breath, my heart was beating so fast. He wasn't impressed by me, so went on his way. You will see a little glimpse of him in the video. He seemed a lot closer......ha. I'll upload the finished photo to my website when I it's done. Just have a couple things to touch up, as it got a little smudged on the flight home. The park was wonderful, although I hate to see the many trees dying from a "pine beetle" damage. I guess that is natures way, but still hate it.

This was painted at Cedar Ridge Campground here at Lake Stockton, Missouri. This rock formation is usually an island the kids jump off of, but with the drought this year, it is an easy hike to get to. The weather was perfect this day. Sorry it is not a close up. "The Rock", 8"x 10", Oil on Canvas, Painted plein air, or on site. Located at Cedar Ridge campground. This is a large rock formation that is usually an island here at Stockton Lake. But since the water is down, it is now easy to hike to. Two of my art friends, De and Cheryl, and I had a wonderful morning painting at the lake a few days ago. The weather was perfect for a change. I video taped part of it, although it's a little far away. I'm still learning, as you can tell..... I'll probably upload some of the video here in a few days. This painting looks better viewed from a distance, as I used the pallet knife for most of it. Looking forward to more rain, and cooler days.
